Guide & Tips for My Leisure Time

Helpful tips to progress faster, spend resources wisely, and avoid common mistakes.
Tip 1
Use Known Yummy Diner Recipes Instead of Guessing

Yummy Diner unlocks around level 12, and cooking becomes one of the first systems where guessing can quietly waste your time. The game asks you to discover recipes by combining ingredients, but wrong combinations do not help you progress efficiently. Community recipe guides list working combinations, including early dishes such as French Fries with Potato, Shakshuka with Tomato and Egg, Russian Beef Stew with Tomato and Beef Brisket, and Cottage Pie with Potato and Beef Brisket.

What to do: once you unlock the diner, keep a small recipe list open while cooking. Prioritize recipes needed for orders, because diner orders give trileaf coins and help push the menu forward.

Why it matters: ingredients have timers. Potatoes and tomatoes grow, while supplier items like eggs and brisket take time to restock. Wasting them on random tests slows down order completion.

Mistake avoided: many new players treat cooking like an experiment system. In My Leisure Time, it is usually better to cook with confirmed recipes unless you are intentionally testing for fun.

Tip 2
Grow Profit Plants, Not Just Pretty Plants

Plants are not equal if your goal is money. Community calculations compared seed cost, possible sale values, and the chance of getting better variants. One recent profit analysis ranked bird of paradise, osmanthus, succulent, and peony among the strongest regular seeds, while flaming katy came out on top for aquatic seeds in expected profit.

What to do: in the early and mid game, use most of your money-making pots for bird of paradise, osmanthus, succulents, or peonies. Once you unlock aquatic flowers, check flaming katy first if you are farming profit.

Why it matters: plants are one of the few systems where a small choice repeats many times. A slightly better seed becomes much better after dozens of harvests.

Mistake avoided: do not fill every pot with random flowers just because they are unlocked. Grow different plants for achievements or decoration, but use your main farming space for profitable seeds.

Tip 3
Stack Flowers When Selling Them

Selling flowers one by one is easy to miss because the interface lets you increase the quantity in a single selling slot. Reddit players specifically point out that you can stack flowers when selling, instead of placing each flower separately.

What to do: when selling several copies of the same flower, tap that flower and use the quantity arrow to increase the amount in the slot.

Why it matters: this saves time and keeps your selling flow cleaner, especially when you are harvesting the same profitable seed over and over.

Mistake avoided: new players often think each flower needs its own slot. That makes farming feel slower than it needs to be.

Tip 4
Save Bait for Real Fishing Progress

All-Day Fishery unlocks at level 17. Each fishing attempt costs 1 bait, and bait is limited: Fandom lists daily login bait windows, a bait cap, ad bait, and a Good-good Market bait item. The fishing mini-game asks you to stop the moving bobber in the center of the lightest blue bar.

What to do: log in during the bait windows when possible, then spend bait with focus instead of rushing taps. Aim for the center of the target zone, because better catches matter for gallery progress and rod unlocks.

Why it matters: rods are not just cosmetic. The Fishery has multiple rods and zones, and higher rods are tied to catching enough fish from certain categories, such as coastal and offshore fish.

Mistake avoided: do not burn bait casually while half-paying attention. Bait is limited, and missed or weak attempts slow your rod progression.

Tip 5
Treat Fish Furniture Trades as More Than Decoration

The Fishery workshop lets you redeem furniture after catching enough fish. A useful Reddit comment also notes that fish furniture trade-ins can count when a quest requires a rare pull.

What to do: before spending premium resources trying to satisfy a “rare pull” style requirement, check whether a fish furniture redemption can solve the task.

Why it matters: this can save shellies or other pull resources, especially for F2P players.

Mistake avoided: many players look only at Design Space when a quest mentions rare items. In some cases, Fishery redemption may be the cheaper route.

Tip 6
Build NPC Friendship With Replies and Flower Gifts

The phone’s Social app is more useful than it first looks. As friendship grows, NPCs can unlock gifts, house visits, and extra pet excursion locations later. The Reddit guide says friendlier, energetic replies are more likely to lead to gifts or invitations, and flowers are especially strong gifts because they give 5 friendship points. Duplicate gifts cannot be given to the same NPC.

What to do: reply warmly in NPC conversations if you are trying to raise friendship. When gifting is unlocked, use flowers first unless you need a specific item for another system.

Why it matters: friendship is connected to more than dialogue. Pet excursions to town locations unlock through NPC friendship level 5, so social progress feeds into pet rewards too.

Mistake avoided: do not ignore NPC messages as “flavor text.” In My Leisure Time, social interactions can affect gifts, visits, and later pet content.

Tip 7
Use Artisanry for Experience, but Craft One at a Time When It Matters

Artisanry unlocks at level 16 and lets you craft and paint furniture. A community guide recommends the backwards picture frame as a cheap hammer-to-experience option, giving 9 EXP per hammer, and notes that painting it adds more EXP. The same guide suggests crafting one at a time when chasing the related achievement.

What to do: if you need level progress, craft cheap frames and paint them. If you are achievement-hunting, do the process one by one instead of rushing batches.

Why it matters: leveling unlocks more town systems, shops, furniture, properties, and activities. Artisanry is one of the more direct ways to convert materials into progress.

Mistake avoided: do not spend hammers randomly on expensive crafts just because they look nicer. For EXP, hammer efficiency matters.

Tip 8
Check House Depot and eBuy Right After Leveling Up

House Depot and eBuy have refresh behavior tied to level-ups. The Reddit guide notes that House Depot furniture and its timer reset when you level up, while eBuy’s furniture resets on level-up but its timer does not.

What to do: when you are close to leveling, avoid ignoring the shops. After you level, quickly check House Depot and eBuy for newly refreshed items.

Why it matters: some furniture opportunities are easy to miss if you level up, leave the game, and only check later.

Mistake avoided: players often treat shop refreshes as only timer-based. In My Leisure Time, level-ups can change what is available.

Tip 9
Spend Design Space Resources With a Target

Design Space is where coins and shellies can disappear fast. Pulls can give furniture from displayed suites, but not every pull hits a suite item. The Reddit guide explains that premium and standard suites use print colors to show rarity, limited suites use different colors, and design exchange tickets from pulls can be redeemed for selected furniture in premium/standard areas. Those exchange tickets do not apply to limited suites.

What to do: before pulling, open the exchange or shard view and check what you actually want. If you are chasing a specific limited item, understand whether you need shards, pulls, or another route.

Why it matters: limited suites can create pressure to spend quickly, but unwanted furniture often gives very little shard value when exchanged.

Mistake avoided: do not pull just because a suite looks cute. Pull when you have a target, know the exchange rules, and accept the odds.

Tip 10
Join an Active Clan for Materials, Not Just Chat

Clans unlock around level 21 and add daily and weekly systems. According to the Reddit guide, clan members can request 15 of each material per day, donate 15 materials to others, claim daily material packs, join weekly Go-Build progress, use material exchange, and spend personal donation points on garden decorations.

What to do: join a clan that actually helps. Request the materials you are short on every day, and donate when you can so you build donation points.

Why it matters: materials are used across crafting and construction-style systems. A quiet clan gives much less value than an active one.

Mistake avoided: do not join a clan only for the name or vibe. If nobody donates or requests, you lose one of the game’s better steady resource loops.

Tip 11
Do Limited Newbie and Event Tasks Before They Disappear

Town News contains event tabs, newbie check-ins, limited design suites, and weekly design contests. The Reddit guide warns that the newbie limited design suite has exclusive items that may not return later, and weekly design contests give points that can be spent in the Starlight Shop.

What to do: when starting, check Town News before spending your day on decorating. Claim newbie rewards, use daily event attempts, and vote in the weekly contest if free votes are available.

Why it matters: cozy games often make early rewards feel optional, but My Leisure Time ties some of them to limited furniture, achievements, and shop currency.

Mistake avoided: do not leave newbie tabs until “later.” Some rewards are time-limited, and missing them can mean losing access to certain items.
