Match Masters is a competitive puzzle game that turns classic match-3 gameplay into fast-paced battles against real players. Instead of completing levels alone, you and your opponent take turns making matches on the same board, so every move can increase your score or leave a valuable opportunity for the other player.

Guide & Tips for Match Masters

Helpful tips to progress faster, spend resources wisely, and avoid common mistakes.
Tip 1
Read the Mode Rules Before Choosing Your Booster

Check the mode and its modifiers before confirming your Booster and Perks. A setup that works well in a standard match may perform badly when only one color scores, Booster activations are limited, pieces move upward, or red matches charge the other player. Your loadout should support the rule that decides the match, not simply contain your strongest available Booster.

For example, fast-charging tools become more valuable in short modes, while a Booster that needs several activations may struggle under Limited Activations. This prevents a common mistake: spending a premium Booster before noticing that the current modifier works against its main ability.

Tip 2
Build Your Turn Around Extra Moves

Whenever possible, look for matches of four or more pieces before taking an ordinary three-piece match. These combinations grant another move and can create Arrows, Bombs or Lightning pieces. One extra move often leads to another, giving you more points and more chances to charge your Booster without handing over the board.

When several extra-move matches are available, usually take the highest one first. Clearing pieces near the bottom changes everything above them and may destroy another prepared match. Starting at the top reduces that risk and helps you avoid wasting a chain that was already available on the board.

Tip 3
Study the Board During Your Opponent’s Turn

Do not wait for your timer to begin before looking for a move. While the opponent is playing, scan the whole board for four-piece matches, Booster energy, useful specials and dangerous red combinations. The board may change before your turn, but you will still start with a much better idea of where the important areas are.

Once your turn begins, check whether the opponent’s final move changed your planned route. This habit saves valuable seconds without forcing you to tap immediately. It helps avoid two opposite mistakes: running out of time because you started searching too late, or rushing into the first visible match and missing a better extra move.

Tip 4
Use Extra Moves Before Activating Your Booster

In most standard modes, collect safe extra moves before pressing a ready Booster. Those moves can add points, create special pieces and improve the board before the Booster changes it. Activating too early may remove a four-piece match that could have extended your turn for free.

There are exceptions when the Booster itself is needed to repair a poor board, but the normal order should be: secure the extra moves, prepare useful specials, then activate. This is especially important when multiple extra moves are visible and a large Booster effect would scramble or clear their positions.

Tip 5
Try to Recharge the Booster With Its Own Activation

A strong Booster turn should do more than produce immediate points. Look for ways its effect can remove blue pieces, create blue specials or prepare another blue match so that the Booster begins charging again immediately. Repeated activations are often more valuable than one activation followed by several weak recovery moves.

Also consider the round transition. When only a few seconds remain and another round is coming, using a ready Booster may leave you with no time to benefit from the new board. In that situation, keeping it charged for the next round can be better than pressing it automatically and wasting the activation.

Tip 6
Do Not Leave Free Plays on the Shared Board

Before ending your turn, check what the opponent will inherit. A red four-piece match, an easy special-piece combination or a prepared extra move can turn an average opposing turn into a long scoring chain. When two moves are similar for your own score, prefer the one that removes the opponent’s best follow-up.

Pay special attention to red pieces because they represent the opponent’s Booster energy from your point of view. In Red Alert, matching red is even more dangerous because it directly charges the opponent’s Booster. Ignoring the shared-board consequences is one of the biggest differences between weak Match Masters play and careful PvP play.

Tip 7
Treat Perks as Tactical Moves, Not Emergency Buttons

Choose Perks that solve a specific problem in the current mode. Star Maker can place blue stars and improve your access to Booster energy, while board-control Perks can remove an awkward piece, rearrange the board or help connect a planned combination. Using the same two Perks in every mode wastes much of their value.

During the match, do not spend a Perk only because it is available. First check whether it can create an extra move, complete a special combination or secure another Booster activation. Using it on a routine three-piece match may leave you without a solution when the board becomes difficult later in the round.

Tip 8
Protect Premium Boosters in High-Risk Events

Learn a mode with a cheaper Booster before risking a Legendary or Special Edition Booster. This matters most in events where one loss has an additional cost. Adventure Mode removes both a life and your Booster after a defeat, while in Match Rumble only the grand winner keeps the Booster used for the event.

Match Rumble also keeps its timer running during Booster animations. Avoid slow, complicated activations when only a few seconds remain, because the animation can consume time you needed for actual moves. For F2P and low-spend players, understanding the rules with an inexpensive loadout first is usually safer than paying for every learning attempt with a rare Booster.
