For most new and F2P players, expanding the backpack is one of the safest early uses of gems. More slots do not simply let you carry one extra weapon. They give you room to hold merge pieces, keep utility items available, and build around larger weapons or awkwardly shaped support items.

This becomes increasingly important as runs start asking you to combine several effects at once. Spending too many early gems on temporary pulls can leave you with good items that simply do not fit together. Backpack space is permanent, so its value carries into every future run with that hero.

The current loadout system uses Supply Max. Every starting item costs a certain amount of Supply, and your hero can bring any combination that fits under that limit. Hero stars also increase Supply Max and unlock additional starting-item choices, making duplicate hero progression more useful than it may first appear.

Do not automatically fill the loadout with the most expensive items you own. A cheaper weapon plus a support item may give you a much cleaner opening than one high-Supply piece. This matters especially for builds that need several specific items before they start working: a better starting setup reduces how much you depend on lucky early Shop rolls.

Overgeared Hero treats the backpack as part of the combat system. Some items care about what is placed in particular nearby slots, and Gloves are a good example: their effects can depend on having the correct item in their marked positions. Simply owning the right pieces is not enough if they are arranged incorrectly.

Before abandoning a run, move items around and check every positional effect. This is especially useful when your damage suddenly feels much lower than expected despite using a familiar setup. One misplaced support item can leave an important weapon without the buff you built the entire backpack around.

When you hit a wall, look at what the enemy is actually doing. A regeneration-heavy boss, for example, can turn a decent damage build into an endless fight. Players have cleared such stages by using Candlesticks or Amulets to suppress or remove regeneration rather than simply adding more raw damage.

The same idea applies to other encounters. Some enemies can make particular mechanics actively dangerous; players even recommend storing Spike generators against enemies that can exploit those Spikes. If a build suddenly stops working on one chapter, do not assume the answer is another week of Training. Sometimes one utility item solves the actual problem.

Blessing rerolls become risky once a hero already has something worth keeping. Instead of repeatedly wiping a good setup while hunting for Mythic Blessings, use the stones that preserve selected Blessings during rerolls. Those preservation resources can be obtained through Daily Expeditions.

A practical approach is to be aggressive while your Blessings are weak, then become more selective once you land an important Mythic or hero-specific effect. This avoids the painful situation where an attempt to gain a small upgrade leaves one of your main heroes much weaker than before.

For F2P players, Pet Eggs and Dragon Blessing Stones have more value than their immediate summon results. Rush events can reward rare progression items and Auras, and saving those resources between events gives you a realistic chance to reach higher reward tiers without paying.

That means ignoring the red notification dot sometimes. If you spend every Egg or Blessing Stone as soon as you get it, you may enter the next Rush with nothing saved and have no way to compete. This is mainly a mid-game F2P strategy: first establish a usable roster, then start treating summon resources as event currency as well as progression currency.

Do not invest under the assumption that one hero or one damage type will carry every Chapter. Current high-level play shows clear situational strengths: Spearman can perform well in consecutive fights with Lance support, Trixie has specific stages where her kit becomes unusually strong, and Fire Mage can produce huge damage with the right Burn setup but is less flexible in other situations.

You do not need to level every hero equally. Instead, keep a main build and gradually develop one or two alternatives that solve different problems. This prevents one unusual boss, Weapon Seal stage, regeneration check, or Spike-focused encounter from completely stopping your progression.
