Some nodes give stats to your whole roster, so early on you should look for those global nodes before pushing deep into one favorite character’s board. In most cases, cheap global ATK/MAG and HP gains are better than expensive personal upgrades on a unit you may replace later.
The mistake is treating every board like a normal character upgrade tree. If you burn rare crayons on weak DEF or late-board luxury nodes too early, your account grows slower and you will feel stuck even after leveling your main team.
For early game and most of mid game, prioritize attack stats and HP before DEF or Crit. ATK/MAG helps you clear waves and bosses faster, while HP gives your team more room to survive bad targeting or awkward skill timing. Crit usually needs more support before it becomes reliable.
The common trap is thinking “tankier stats” automatically fix failed stages. In Trickcal, weak damage often causes more problems than low defense because fights drag on and your team takes more hits anyway. Save heavy Crit or DEF investment for later, when you understand exactly which Apostle and board path needs it.
A random team of high-tier Apostles can look strong on paper, but Trickcal rewards teams that activate personality and race bonuses. Pick a main core around your best Apostle or Eldain unit, then fill the squad with Apostles that support the same personality or useful race effects.
This helps F2P and low-spend players avoid the biggest resource mistake: building too wide. A half-built team in three different directions usually performs worse than one focused team with matching bonuses, upgraded boards, and enough gear to push Crusade and dungeons.
In the early game, Candy refreshes can be worth it because account levels, Crusade progress, and gear drops all unlock more systems and better farming. If you are still below the point where farms and stronger resource stages open up, faster progress can snowball.
Once you are around mid game and your main team already has basic gear sets, refreshes become less automatic. Spending premium currency every day just to gain small level increases can delay banners, future units, or better long-term value. Refresh because it unlocks something useful, not because the button is there.
Star Candy should go into resource farming that gives steady progress: gold, board materials, skill materials, and other upgrades that improve your team now. Character shards are tempting, but chasing a few shards from inefficient stages can eat a lot of Star Candy for very little immediate power.
This matters most in mid game. Star-ups are nice, but a stronger board, better skill levels, or more gold for upgrades often helps you clear content faster. Do not turn Star Candy into a slot machine unless you are targeting a specific unit and understand the poor return.
Do not ignore Order just because combat stages feel more exciting. A good mid-game priority is usually A-Club first, then HQ, then Fab Lab. A-Club supports the resource loop, HQ unlocks and supports crafted items, and Fab Lab gives many small research upgrades that add up over time.
The mistake is leaving Order underdeveloped while wondering why daily growth feels slow. Craft HQ furniture and items when possible because they help raise Yggdrasil Relic value, which improves your daily resource income. It is not flashy, but it makes the account stronger every day.
Even Apostles you do not plan to use can still matter. Ranking cheap units to early ranks and unlocking easy global board nodes can give account-wide stats. This is why long-term Trickcal progression is not only about your main six or nine characters.
The error is ignoring low-rarity or unused Apostles completely. You should not dump rare materials into everyone, but cheap Rank 2 upgrades and nearby global board nodes are often worth checking. Think of unused Apostles as small stat projects, not dead roster space.
